Sherilyn Fenn is trying to find her “center.” This isn’t a Freudian or an anatomic place so much as a Hollywood mind-set. She’s been in Seattle playing a young, rich bitch in Northwest Passage, a Peyton Place-type TV pilot directed by Blue Velvet’s David Lynch. “My character Audrey’s saddle shoes are showcased a lot. David’s very into shooting them.” Before that, it was Rome for The Pit and the Pendulum, a movie about the Spanish Inquisition, opposite Peter O’Toole as the grand inquisitor. Fenn, a native of Detroit, moved around a lot before settling into L.A. in her teens. “I was supposed to go to Beverly Hills High for my senior year, but I couldn’t imagine it. So I said, ‘Mama, I’ll act!’ I had no training, but producers taught me how at auditions.” Seven years, eight movies (The Wraith, Two-Moon Junction) and a bunch of TV stuff later, the 23-year-old Fenn is hoping the pilot flies so she can settle in Seattle for a while and get, like, you know, centered.
